Earth Day 2021

Today is Earth Day 🌎 A day to celebrate our beautiful planet and take small actions as individuals to help our preserve our home. We'll let the Duke and Duchess of Hastings highlight our feelings... 😍😍😍

Duke and Duchess of Hastings

Pretty wasteful!

In all seriousness, unfortunately the beauty industry has an ugly problem, plastic!

The sheer amount of plastic waste that ends up in our oceans and landfills is staggering. There are an estimated 120 billion units of non recyclable packaged produced globally by our industry each year and by 2050, there will be more plastic in the sea than fish. We need fish in our oceans, without them eco systems will die and oceans will struggle to absorb co2, something we need for our planet to survive.

As a business we strive to ensure our packaging is plastic free, glass jars, aluminium tins and recycled paper can all go into your recycling bins at home.

We wanted to use packaging that does not just rely on being composted to degrade (such as cellulose), for example we use glassine bags for our bath bombs. Because let’s face it, the average person does not have access to compost facilities.

What can you do?

  • Choose plastic free or plastic minimal options wherever you can
  • Have a look at @earthdaynetwork
  • Watch documentaries like @seaspiracy (it will blow your mind!)
  • Do your own research and educate yourself

Earth Day was launched in 1970 and mobilized over 20 million people to call for greater protections for our planet, 50 years later the movement has grown to one billion people wanting to help our planet.

When life around the world returns to normal, our world cannot return to business-as-usual. Mass amounts of damage has already been done, but that does not mean we have to continue that legacy. We have the ability to make a difference in every industry, but that can only happen when we work together to #RestoreOurEarth.
